Richard Marx - Now and Forever

Whenever I'm weary from the battles that rage
in my head
You make sense of madness when my sanity
hangs by a thread
I lose my way but still you seam to understand
Now and forever
I will be your man

Sometimes I just hold you
Too caught up in me to see

I'm holding a fortune that heaven has given
to me
I'll try to show you each and every way I can
Now and forever
I will be you man

Now I can rest my worries and always be sure
That I won't be alone anymore
If I'd only known you were there all the @me
All this time

Until the day the ocean doesn't touch the
sand
Now and forever
I will be your man
Now and forever
I will be your man

Morning, February 6

“Praying always.”

Ephesians 6:18

WHAT multitudes of prayers we have put up from the first moment when we learned to pray! Our first prayer was a prayer for ourselves; we asked that God would have mercy upon us, and blot out our sin. He heard us. But when He had blotted out our sins like a cloud, then we had more prayers for ourselves. We have had to pray for sanctifying grace, for constraining and restraining grace; we have been led to crave for a fresh assurance of faith, for the comfortable application of the promise, for deliverance in the hour of temptation, for help in the time of duty, and for succor in the day of trial. We have been compelled to go to God for our souls, as constant beggars asking for everything. Bear witness, children of God, you have never been able to get anything for your souls elsewhere. All the bread your soul has eaten has come down from heaven, and all the water of which it has drank has flowed from the living rock—Christ Jesus the Lord. Your soul has never grown rich in itself; it has always been a pensioner upon the daily bounty of God; and hence your prayers have ascended to heaven for a range of spiritual mercies all but infinite. Your wants were innumerable, and therefore the supplies have been infinitely great, and your prayers have been as varied as the mercies have been countless. Then have you not cause to say, “I love the Lord, because He hath heard the voice of my supplication”? For as your prayers have been many, so also have been God’s answers to them. He has heard you in the day of trouble, has strengthened you, and helped you, even when you dishonored Him by trembling and doubting at the mercy-seat. Remember this, and let it fill your heart with gratitude to God, who has thus graciously heard your poor weak prayers. “Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits.”

My raves on the curious case of BB

Hi all,

If you haven't watched this movie which premieres 5 Feb 2009 in Sg, you should definitely watch it! Esp. for people who are fond of poignant, poetic, and romantic dramas like me, you would definitely love it. Even my boyfriend loves it! So guys who don't mind dramas should watch too! Warning: SPOILERS BELOW

What I rave about the curious case is the way the story is told. It has humor in its own quirky way. Like the man who got shot by lightning 7x. But the story is meaningful in each and every scene. The writer didn't make a scene out of nothing at all. This was pure genius. Unlike the original short story, which was sooo different in so many ways. I love the scene when Daisy got an accident, it was so curiously written and directed.

On the romance part, somehow the movie reminded me of Cold Mountain, with the separation, postcards, then finally meet up again, but in the more subtle and less dramatic/tragical way, but nevertheless poignant. Eventhough the movie duration is like 166 minutes, but one can get not bored at all watching this curious case. Maybe it's bcos Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett acted so well, and perhaps all the supporting actors/actresses did. And maybe the makeup artist(s) also did their job very well, considering how a 45 and 39 Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett can look so different everytime they're at a certain age. Another thing that I would rave about is the character development throughout the movie. It's awesome, showing how people change as they age. To me personally, this movie would probably one that I can remember about for a very very long time.

Quotes that I rave:

Benjamin Button: [Voice over; letter to his daughter] For what it's worth: it's never too late or, in my case, too early to be whoever you want to be. There's no time limit, stop whenever you want. You can change or stay the same, there are no rules to this thing. We can make the best or the worst of it. I hope you make the best of it. And I hope you see things that startle you. I hope you feel things you never felt before. I hope you meet people with a different point of view. I hope you live a life you're proud of. If you find that you're not, I hope you have the strength to start all over again.

Benjamin Button: Our lives are defined by opportunities, even the ones we miss.

Queenie: Everyone feels different about themselves one way or another, but we all goin' the same way.

Captain Mike: You can be as mad as a mad dog at the way things went. You could swear, curse the fates, but when it comes to the end, you have to let go.

Daisy: Would you still love me if I were old and saggy?
Benjamin Button: Would you still love ME if I were young and had acne? When I'm afraid of what's under the bed? Or if I end up wetting the bed?

(in fact she did!)

Benjamin Button: Along the way you bump into people who make a dent on your life. Some people get struck by lightning. Some are born to sit by a river. Some have an ear for music. Some are artists. Some swim the English Channel. Some know buttons. Some know Shakespeare. Some are mothers. And some people can dance.

Benjamin Button: I was thinking how nothing lasts, and what a shame that is.
Daisy: Some things last.

Mrs. Maple: Benjamin, we're meant to lose the people we love. How else would we know how important they are to us?

Mr. Daws: Did I ever tell you I been struck by lightning seven times? Once when I was repairing a leak on the roof.
[brief footage of a man getting struck by lightning]
Mr. Daws: Once I was just crossing the road to get the mail.
[brief footage of a man getting struck by lightning]
Mr. Daws: Once, I was walking my dog down the road.
[brief footage of a man getting struck by lightning]
Mr. Daws: Blinded in one eye; can't hardly hear. I get twitches and shakes out of nowhere; always losing my line of thought. But you know what? God keeps reminding me I'm lucky to be alive.
[sniffles]
Mr. Daws: Storm's comin'.

Daisy: I promise you, I'll never lose myself to self-pity again.
Benjamin Button: [while the day begins] And I think, right there and then, she realized none of us is perfect forever.

Benjamin Button: It's a funny thing about comin' home. Looks the same, smells the same, feels the same. You'll realize what's changed is you.

Daisy: Goodnight Benjamin.
Benjamin Button: Goodnight Daisy.

Goodnight Benjamin...

even reading all these quotes made me cry, must be near to that time of the month *sigh*

from Daniel 1

Indeed, God has a plan for His glory, and His plan can never be thwarted by men.

Therefore never fear worldly authorities more than you fear Him who is in control of your souls.

gee

i got friends who label me stylish/uptodate, some others would label me blur queen ("oh no!" is my current quote). then some others would label me the crazy one, or even the witty one with people who are more quiet and deeper than i am. even other other would label me a geek in the lab and also a listener. so which one is me? all is me =P

for now, i would label myself like this song, "Gee". Here is the dance version. Go Girls Generation!

i find this quiz very accurate

http://www.quizbox.com/personality/test82.aspx

Your view on yourself:

Other people find you very interesting, but you are really hiding your true self. Your friends love you because you are a good listener. They'll probably still love you if you learn to be yourself with them.

The type of girlfriend/boyfriend you are looking for:

You like serious, smart and determined people. You don't judge a book by its cover, so good-looking people aren't necessarily your style. This makes you an attractive person in many people's eyes.

Your readiness to commit to a relationship:

You prefer to get to know a person very well before deciding whether you will commit to the relationship.

The seriousness of your love:

You are very serious about relationships and aren't interested in wasting time with people you don't really like. If you meet the right person, you will fall deeply and beautifully in love. (hmm~)

Your views on education

Education is very important in life. You want to study hard and learn as much as you can.

The right job for you:

You're a practical person and will choose a secure job with a steady income. Knowing what you like to do is important. Find a regular job doing just that and you'll be set for life. (so me)

How do you view success:

You are afraid of failure and scared to have a go at the career you would like to have in case you don't succeed. Don't give up when you haven't yet even started! Be courageous.

What are you most afraid of:

You are concerned about your image and the way others see you. This means that you try very hard to be accepted by other people. It's time for you to believe in who you are, not what you wear. (nod nod)

Who is your true self:

You are mature, reasonable, honest and give good advice. People ask for your comments on all sorts of different issues. Sometimes you might find yourself in a dilemma when trapped with a problem, which your heart rather than your head needs to solve. (interesting)

money is not the issue

there are definitely other more important factors to satisfaction in life. maybe it's an issue of the heart. i now believe that my passion lies somewhere linked to this job.

for some important things in life, they are really worth fighting for. to the point that physical sufferings do not really matter anymore, even mental sufferings perhaps.

and suddenly i remember the lyric:

tell me princess, now when did you last let your heart decide?

anyways...i'm so happy that royal blue, electric blue, cobalt blue, and their relatives are the colors of this season! not that happy, but still, i'm a lil bit thrilled.

what has been happening so far

okay let me keep track a bit...

at w***, things have been rather fast paced, finally the Wizard has come down to earth. Not to visit the earthlings only, but to whip up some magic on earth. Then, I was ordered to do some quite earthly things which was fine. Though sometimes when you've worked hard and yet results don't show up as what you wanted you got a bit demoralized. In science it's never late to try and try again, keep on trying new things. Yep, let's work hard people!

I've been thinking a lot this week. when I met my old friends (primary school friends) on Facebook, I think their minds are relatively still similar to highschoolers like that. This I find rather pitiful. And very different from us living in Singapore. We are exposed to hardships earlier in life, first at least through NUS (or just name the other unis), then through the working culture here. Maybe it's relatively harder than for those still living in Indo and having their lives still supported by parents. I still find them having a lot of free time to be commenting like every a few hours on that primary school photo, and their "have fun" mentality is quite unbearable too. I find it rather irresponsible at this age to still be spending your parents money for reasons like: "to have fun". Some more most of them are still somehow stuck in uni, I also don't understand why they don't mind wasting time like that.

On another note, I need to put some order in my life. Money and time management is still quite poor I guess. I need to get my PR fast! And I want to go home too probably in April/May, and planning to travel later on in Sept with the older KTB girls. I hope it's happening.

Been listening to songs like "Taegoon - Call Me" and "Kim Kyung Rok ft. Baby J - We Are Now Strangers" like everyday.

Five Hebrew Love Songs

Eric Whitacre~!!!!! Okay, let's stop the hysteria...

1.  Temuna (a picture)

A picture is engraved in my heart;

Moving between light and darkness:

A sort of silence envelopes your body,

And your hair falls upon your face just so.

2.  Kala kalla (light bride)

Light bride

She is all mine,

And lightly

She will kiss me!

3.  Larov (mostly)

“Mostly,” said the roof to the sky,

“the distance between you and I is endlessness;

But a while ago two came up here,

And only one centimeter was left between us.”

4.  Eyze sheleg! (What snow!)

What snow!

Like little dreams

Falling from the sky.

5. Rakut (Tenderness)

He was full of tenderness;

She was very hard.

And as much as she tried to stay thus,

Simply, and with no good reason,

He took her into himself,

And set her down

In the softest, softest place.

I love the feel of the songs, so mystical, romantic, pure, and yet very poignant...reminded me of Final Fantasy OST...brilliant. Love the "animal crackers" too. Here you go, a nice version of the "Five Hebrew Love Songs" choral I found on Youtube:

once in a lifetime

maybe it's true, true love only comes once in a lifetime. once you've missed it, then that's it already. but does life really work that way? to me personally, i wouldn't want to miss that chance though. no thanks for all the other options. really.

By now, i already know how to choose the man. i'm no longer that naive girl i used to be. and it's like a long long while ago already. I don't have the time to play play anymore. Thank God.

nightmare

i dreamed that he died with the dead body nowhere to be found. like in those korean movies, where the character had trauma over such experience, then he/she becomes a bitter person. must be because i was just about to lose something important, which is that wallet. it's back to me now though...what a nightmare. i kept on having nightmares these days.
